Sondra Keckley
Sondra Keckley has been a teacher for 16 years in Bakersfield. Her first 11 years were at Stockdale High School, teaching biology. She then had the opportunity to help open a brand new school and develop the library as the Teacher-Librarian for Independence High School, where she has taught for the last 5 years. There she has taken on many technology roles, including designing her own library web site using Weebly.com. After encouragement from fellow TLs, Sondra presented a workshop on how to create a Weebly web site at the CSLA State Conference in 2012. She currently serves as a CSLA Southern Region Section 1 Rep. Sondra was also honored in 2012 with the distinction of being Independence High School's Teacher of the Year, and went on to earn alternate for Kern County's Teacher of the Year.
Develop Your Own Library Web Page Using Weebly.com
Sondra has adapted her two hour workshop, which she presented at the CSLA 2012 State Conference, into a 50 minute presentation for the Southern Region Spring Workshop. The biggest difference will be that each attendee will not have their own computer, nor the extended time to create their own website. However, if you have an iPad or other tablet or smartphone device with a data plan and Internet access, you could feasibly follow along and create your own website during the presentation. Sondra will demonstrate how to start a webpage with Weebly, all the steps and capabilities, and show just how easy it is to be your own webmaster for your Library web page. There will be handouts available, with a PowerPoint slide show and room for notes, which can serve as a reminder and tutorial when you get home. Contact info will also be provided, and Sondra will be happy to help with any questions along your way.
